University Admissions

Northern Ivey Educational Consulting supports students and families through every stage of the university planning and admissions process. The transition from high school to postsecondary study can feel overwhelming—program choices, competitive requirements, supplementary applications, timelines, and personal statements all demand clarity and strategy. We provide expert guidance to help students present their strongest possible applications and make confident, informed decisions about their future.

Our Approach

Our approach is grounded in personalized strategy, strengths-based planning, and a deep understanding of Ontario, Canadian, U.S., and international university systems. We guide students through program exploration, course planning, academic readiness, application building, and the development of compelling supplementary materials. From Grade 10 planning to final university decisions, we offer clarity, structure, and support at every step.

Core Areas of Support

  • Program Exploration & Pathway Planning: We help students identify academic interests, career aspirations, competitive programs, and appropriate pathways. This includes program research, admissions requirement mapping, long-term course planning, and aligning extracurriculars to support student goals.

  • Academic Strategy & Readiness: We assist students in developing strong study habits, time-management skills, and subject mastery needed for competitive programs. We also advise on course selection, de-streaming implications, recommended electives, and strategies for meeting program-specific prerequisites.

  • Ontario (OUAC) Application Support: We guide students through the OUAC process, deadlines, program choices, and application sequencing. We ensure their profile is accurate, complete, and optimized for their preferred programs.

  • Supplementary Application Support: Many competitive programs require extra components such as personal statements, video interviews, portfolios, or timed assessments. We help students prepare polished, authentic, and compelling submissions that set them apart.

  • Personal Profile & Essay Coaching: We work with students to articulate their strengths, experiences, leadership, and impact. This includes brainstorming, outlining, writing support, editing, and final review through a structured, ethical coaching process.

  • Reference Letter Strategy: We help students identify appropriate referees, request letters professionally, and provide teachers with supporting material that results in stronger, more detailed recommendations.

  • Portfolio Development (Arts, Design & Specialized Programs): We guide students enrolled in arts, design, architecture, media, music, drama, or specialized programs through building competitive portfolios that meet institutional expectations.

  • U.S. & International Admissions Guidance: We offer support for SAT/ACT planning, Common App completion, supplementary essays, and international program research—ensuring students are competitive across multiple admissions systems.

  • Interview Preparation: We prepare students for MMI-style interviews, video assessments, live interviews, and recorded responses used by competitive programs such as business, engineering, and health sciences.

  • Scholarships & Financial Aid Strategy: We assist students in identifying scholarship opportunities—both institutional and external—and help craft strong, well-structured applications.

  • Timeline Planning & Accountability: We provide students with personalized admissions timelines, milestone checklists, and structured accountability to ensure all components are completed on time with confidence.

  • Transition-to-University Support: We offer guidance on selecting residences, understanding program structure, preparing for first-year expectations, and planning for academic success beyond high school.
